SPOLIER ALERT

Seriously, I can't stretch this enough: DO NOT READ if you have not read Prodigy. Read it, and come back.

Assuming that you have read the book, I will continue.
Prodigy is the second installment of Marie Lu's Legend trilogy. The story starts off a few days after the end of Legend, the first book in the trilogy. We begin with June's perspective about what her life is like now, wanted by the Republic, travelling with a sick boy dying of a gunshot wound. It also gets word out that the leader of the Republic, titled The Elector, has died and is replaced with his son, Anden. June and Day realize they have no choice but to join the Patriots, who welcome them in. They make a bargain with the Patriot's leaders; in exchange for helping them assassinate Anden, June is assigned the job of being a spy while Day is given the job of being the spark for a revolution.

They each go and do their duties, which goes smoothly when June realizes that, after hearing that Anden will release Day's brother from experimentation, Anden can actually help the Republic and makes up her mind to stop the assassination. Things were going well for Day, too. He had, with the help of the Patriots, taken down a Republic train, which caused stirs in the people. He has unwavering determination until he receives June's signal to stop. They both had no idea what to do until the day of the assassination, which they successfully manage to stop and escape into the Colonies.
The Colonies, after realizing how much they could earn by turning June in to the Republic, try to capture them. June and Day barely make it out alive with the help of Kaede, who unfortunately dies while helping the duo escape, Day, who is now the motivator of the people, convince the citizens of the Republic that Anden is not their enemy and stops a riot. After this Day is rushed into the hospital and gets surprising and heart-wrenching news: as he was experimented on after getting a perfect score, the medical surgeries effect finally caught on, and he is currently dying.
The story ends with Day seeing June for what seems like the last time, and this scene is just heart breaking in every single humanly possible.
I have mentioned in my last review how I felt about this series, and I personally have no different opinions. This book is just THAT FREAKING GOOD.
One song I think goes really well with the story is most of Shadowhunters TV soundtrack. The songs are AMAZING on their own, but the book and songs spice up each other, I think.

Thank you for reading. I hope you come for more Book Reviews!
